To be clear: colloidal silver is a suspension. A suspension is what you call a group of particles that are temporarily suspended in a liquid. “Temporarily” refers to a short period of time.  Thus, the particles can fall out of the liquid in a short period of time.  If the liquid in question happens to be inside a human body at the time, there is a chance that the silver particles will fall out of the liquid while inside the human body.  They may then accumulate within the body, causing a blue or silvery coloring of the skin.

Further, to be clear: not all silver products are a suspension. Silver sol, for instance, is a solution.  A solution and a suspension are not the same thing.

The nature of colloidal silver is in flux.

From one preparation to another, important factors such as particle size, silver concentration (often measured in parts per million), and vibrational frequency vary from batch to batch. As such, it is difficult to clearly note the benefits of a substance since the substance keeps changing!

If there was agreement over what “colloidal silver” is, it would be very simple to test its effectiveness and safety.

There are definitely benefits of using silver as an antimicrobial tool, but colloidal silver isn’t the best way to do it.  Silver sol provides a superior tool (where the manufacturing has been done with quality control according to US Patent # 7,135,195). This form of silver is consistent and specific benefits can in fact be noted.
